Gabriel Popa, violin, is a native of Timisoara, Romania. He graduated the G. Dima Conservatory from Cluj Napoca in 1979. Mr. Popa was recruited upon his graduation by the Banatul Philharmonic from Timisoara and was offered a position. In 1992 he joined the faculty at the West University School of Music in Timisoara and in 1994 he was offered the position of concertmaster with the reputable Austrian orchestra: Wiener Kammer Opera. In 1996 he joined the Heidelberg Orchestra in Germany as section principal. Starting with 1997, Gabriel Popa joined once again the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra in Timisoara as a section principal. Mr. Popa is the recipient of numerous awards, including one in Italy for interpretation. He is in demand as soloist in Romania and abroad in Japan, Germany, Austria, France and Italy.
