Professor of violin Maria Clesiu is currently one of the most reputable violin pedagogues in Romania. Ms. Clesiu graduated the Conservatory of Music “G. Dima” of Cluj Napoca, Romania. in 1976 where she studied violin in the class of Francisc Balogh jr, who studied in turn with his father, Francis Balogh, a pupil of the renown Hungarian violinist Jeno Hubay. Upon graduation from, the Conservatory, she was immediately recruited to be one of the violin professors in the prestigious Music School “Ion Vidu,” Timisoara. Where she was named Chair of the Strings department in 1990. She was also a professor at the Music Conservatory in Timisoara between 1995 and 1997

Professor Clesiu’s achievements are impressive. Her students have been the recipients of the most reputable awards at the national Romanian violin competitions, as well as at international competitions. In all, her students have received 24 prizes at Romanian competitions and 12 prizes at international violin competitions, including Streza, and San Bartolomeo Italia. Many of her students play in renowned orchestras such as Detroit (USA), Dortmund (Germany) and Saragoza (Spain) just to name a few. Her students are a constant presence as soloists with the best Romanian orchestras.

Professor Clesiu’s success as a teacher is due to her constant commitment and research in the art of violin pedagogy. She is a thorough builder of technical skills following a method that shows exceptional results with all levels of skill and talent.. Because of her expertise, she is a constant presence in juries at national and euro regional violin competitions.
