Ling-Ju Lai, piano


Ms. Lai is a native of Taiwan, began her musical training at the age of four. She received a Bachelor of Music with Honors from the University of Michigan where she studied piano with Dickran Atamian and Logan Skelton, and harpsichord with Edward Parmentier. Ms. Lai earned two Master’s degrees in Piano and Harpsichord Performance from the Eastman School of Music where she was awarded the Performer’s Certificate for her excellence in performance. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in piano at the University of Michigan where she studies with Logan Skelton.

Ms. Lai was named the "Rising Artist” by two of Taiwan’s most prestigious performance organizations: the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra and the National Taiwan Concert Hall. Her recital appearances at the New Artist Series, sponsored by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, received high acclaim in 2000. In 2001, the National Taiwan Concert Hall awarded Ms. Lai the “Rising Star Prize” that lead to a national wide concert tours.

As a concert pianist, Ling-Ju Lai excels in performing Baroque music. She has appeared at major music festivals and competitions throughout the world, including the Vlaanderen Festival at Bruges, the Bach Festival in Leipzig, the SEHKS festival in Florida, the International J.S. Bach Competition, and the 25th William Kapell International Piano Competition.
