Laura Leigh Roelofs, violin


Ms. Roelofs is a full-time faculty member in Violin and String Pedagogy at Wayne State University, and Assistant Concertmaster of the Michigan Opera Theatre. Before coming to Detroit in 2004, she performed for fourteen seasons as Assistant Concertmaster of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and as a member of the Oberon String Quartet, artists-in-residence at St. Catherine's and St. Christopher's Schools in Richmond. Laura has served on the faculty of Virginia Commonwealth University and as Artist-Teacher of Violin and Viola at Georgia State University in Atlanta. While in Georgia, she toured the Southeast region as violist of the Atlanta Chamber Players. She has appeared as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony, the Richmond Symphony, and the Washington Sinfonia, as well the Rocky Ridge (CO) Festival Orchestra and the Congress of Strings. She holds violin performance degrees from Boston University's School of Fine Arts and the Catholic University of America. When she isn't performing or teaching, Laura enjoys working on her 1919 bungalow and playing with her two very spoiled cats, Arianna and Zoe.
