
Sorin Petrescu, piano, is a graduate of the Ion Vidu School of Music in his native town of Timisoara, Romania. Later he graduated the Ciprian Porumbescu Music Conservatory in Bucharest. In 1982, Mr. Petrescu joined the Banatul Philharmonic in Timisoara as the orchestra pianist. He is an avid chamber musician and a promoter of contemporary music. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious Astra Magazine Award from Brasov, Romania. He is also the silver price winner at the Mazara International Piano Competition in Mazara, Italy. Sorin Petrescu performed in numerous festivals, including the 1988 and 1991 George Enescu Festival, Varna International Festival in Bulgaria, and the New Music Festivals Musicorama in Hong Kong and Huddersfield Great Britain. Mr. Petrescu appeared as a soloist in China, Poland, Hungary, Russia, France, Switzerland and Taiwan. He has recorded for the Romanian TV and Radio stations as well as the Electrecord and VTCD Labels.
Doru Roman, percussion, is a graduate of the Ion Vidu Scool of Music, in Timisoara Romania. After continuing his studies at the G. Dima Conservatory of Music in Cluj Napoca with Grigore Pop, he joined the Timisoara Opera and later the Banatul Philharmonic. He became a professor of percussion at the West University School of Music in Timisoara. Mr. Roman is a member of the reputable ensemble, Trio Contraste. He is gold medalist at the National Percussion Competitions , as well as the Special Grant recipient at Darmstadter Internationalen for neue Musik in Germany. Mr. Roman is in demand in new music festivals, throughout Europe. He appears frequently as a percussion soloist in Europe, South America and Asia.
.Ion Bogdan Ştefănescu, flute, is a graduate of the George Enescu Music School in Bucharest. He continued his studies at the National Music University in Bucharest. He attended postgraduate studies at the class of British flutist Alexander Murray at the university Champaign Urbana in the US. Mr. Stefanescu started his artistic career at the age of 14, playing as a soloist on the prestigious Romanian Atheneum Hall in Bucharest. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the first prize at the Concertino International Competition in Prague. Mr. Stefanescu appears frequently as a soloist with the prestigious orchestras in Romania and is the Principal Flutist at the George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest, Romania. He is a member of the prestigious Trio Contraste and tours extensively throughout Europe. He is the founder of the Concertino ensemble and appeared as a soloist and conductor with this ensemble in television programs.
